CREATIVITY AND EMOTIONS: TOGETHER BUT NOT MIXED
Abstract. The relationship between creativity and emotions is a line of research of growing interest. In the educational and organizational fields, it is considered that the promotion of both socio-emotional and creative skills could be the key to increase performance and motivation both, in students and workers. But how are creativity and emotional phenomena related? To answer this question, the work presented here makes a theoretical review of the most significant results published in the scientific literature. In the first part, following aspects of emotions related to creativity will be analyzed: 1) emotional tone (positive or negative), 2) level of emotional activation (high or low), and 3) focus of emotional regulation (promotion or prevention). In the second part, the most representative theoretical models of the simultaneous creativity-emotions phenomena will be presented. In the third part, in order to improve the performance in the learning-teaching processes, some proposals will be mentioned for secondary school and vocational training teachers. Finally, some conclusions drawn from these three parts will be underlined.
